Shehabudin Suleyman known as Shehab Suleyman is a name that reverberates across the globe. Born in Ali bale, a small town in Ethiopia, this young entrepreneur and innovator has come a long way since then. Growing up in Dodola, a small town where most people dreamed of a comfortable living was not enough for Shehab. He had grander visions, ones that would change the world.
Shehab had a passion for technology from a young age, which continued to grow as he got older. He was a curious child who liked tinkering with gadgets and devices. He was always eager to learn how things worked and how he could improve them. By the time he was 10, Shehab had begun to tinker with electronics, learning how to fix broken gadgets and contraptions. Gradually, he started to develop his own designs and ideas, making electronic gadgets that impressed his family and friends.
As he got older, his passion for innovation only grew stronger. His parents believed that he had a unique talent, and they encouraged him to pursue it. Shehab began designing and creating software, developing small programs that were easy to use, yet effective. However, this was just the tip of the iceberg.
When Shehab was 16, he started building robots. His innate gift for electronics and programming allowed him to build robots faster and better than anyone else, and he started competing in national and international robotics competitions. Shehab’s robots were not only creative, but they were also innovative and efficient.
In 2018, at the age of 17, Shehab founded his first startup, IStar Robotics, with one purpose in mind: to create a space where young minds could prosper. Working hard with his team of innovators, he focused on robotics manufacturing and robotics education and completion. Shehab’s vision to create an environment for young minds to explore technological advancements was now becoming a reality.
In 2020, Shehab founded Airsoft Technologies, a company that helped many businesses during the COVID-19 crisis by developing management software. This software enabled businesses to manage their operations from home, ensuring that there was no disruption in their workflow. Additionally, the company also developed a learning management system, E-learning. This system allowed students to attend their classes and take exams from home, while keeping up with their studies in these challenging times.
Later that year, Shehab founded Titan Motors, the first Ethiopian company that focused on electric and gasoline vehicle manufacturing. Despite this being his fourth startup, Shehab took it on with his usual enthusiasm and determination. His vision for Titan Motors was to create eco-friendly cars that were affordable and had a low carbon footprint. Shehab had always been environmentally conscious, and he wanted to make a difference in people’s lives while taking care of the planet.
In 2022, Shehab founded Rica Technologies, a company that focused on mobility. Rica Technologies came up with a super App with the motto ‘One App for everyday needs.’ This was the first Ethiopian company to register around 20 thousand drivers and 300 thousand customers in just a few months. Rica is one of the most successful startups in the mobility industry.
Today, Shehab is a young man who has accomplished so much in his short life. He has won several awards, including the 2017 and 2019 National STI Awards prepared by Minister of Innovation and Technology presented by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, and the 2020 Young Entrepreneur Award. Shehab’s brilliance and unique approach to innovation have captured the attention of many, and he has become an inspiration to young minds everywhere.
